SpiderGwen GhostSpider 2018 #4 eBook Seanan McGuire Rosi Kampe Bengal Reviews

  • I thought Spider-Geddon was over, but turns out there was one last tale to tell. The story focuses on Spider-Gwen as she gathers the various Spider-People of various worlds to mourn those lost during the battle with The Inheritors. Gwen is the last one capable of traversing reality, and it seems no one will be leaving their Universe for a while after these events. This issue is the least connected of this series so far, giving us readers very little idea of the direction the series might take. That's fine though, and I'm happy Seanan McGuire decided to give us a more personal finale to Spider-Geddon. A focus on life and loss affecting people really elevates the comic to a new level. McGuire makes sure that every moment remembering these now dead heroes has a true impact based on their long and short histories in the comics. Rosi Kämpe continues to bring her best for this series and I hope she stays on for awhile. As I said, this comic does only a little to grow Gwen's character. Still, I'm glad we got one last hurrah for the heroes of the Spider-Verse.

  • There's not too much action in this particular issue. It mainly revolves around Gwen grieving the loss of her friends in the aftermath of the Spider-Geddon series; she even has the unenviable task of travel between dimensions an informing their loved-ones of how they died. Overall, it's well written emotion is palpable and the situation is relatable despite being set in a universe of people with superpowers.
  • Seanan McGuire will break your heart with this one. The story is a wonderful send off to the event and an amazing start to the next arc. I can't wait for next month's comic and what she will do with the breaks off.
