The Big 15 Ketogenic Diet Cookbook 15 Fundamental Ingredients 150 Keto Diet Recipes 300 LowCarb and HighFat Variations Megan Flynn Peterson 9781939754424 Books Reviews
Having just gone back to a low-carb diet, this book is incredible for maintaining your sanity. The recipes are so well thought out, and include a couple variations should you need suggestions on how to change it for next time or tune it more to your liking.
Want a more exciting way to eat eggs? Consider making the Keto Pancakes for breakfast, and serve 'em up with a side of bacon. Or how about a nice "breaded" chicken cutlet? Uncle Marty's Chicken will satisfy your cravings, alongside some broccoli or mashed cauliflower.
Truth is, if you want to get serious into the low-carb/keto diet, you're going to need to cook. The only way to be sure of how many carbs you're consuming is to know everything that goes into your meal. That's not always easy to do when you're eating out, and nothing is more tragic than knocking yourself out of ketosis because you ate something you innocently thought was safe.
As someone who loves to cook, the transition to cooking low-carb was a breeze for me. But if you're intimidated by the thought of some kitchen magic, this book should do wonders in alleviating those fears. There are plenty of recipes that don't require a lot of culinary skills to get you started (you can make cheese crisps with just one ingredient!), and most of the ingredients will ensure your wallet won't be the one losing weight.
So if you're strongly considering a ketogenic diet, get serious and put on the apron. Megan's book will help you do the rest.
It's very easy to read cookbook. With a lot of sections with about five to seven recipes each section. She's simplifies Keto. The only thing I didn't like is that it hardly had any pictures and unfortunately that's a downer for me. Because I love cookbooks with pictures. I just purchased Carolyn Ketchum's cookbook and she includes plenty of pics in her books.
This book has LOTS of pictures, great recipes that I will actually make and so much information that is helpful, that I am telling my fellow KETO friends to buy this book! I have been KETO for about 10 months but this book taught me even more about being KETO. You should get this book for your collection. I Love it!
Excellent recipes and well organized. Shows percentages of fat, carb, and protein as well as calories and sugar content.
The big addition of this cookbook is the organization around 15 Fundamental Ingredients. It is set up by ingredient, which makes it really practical for the ordinary household cook. Separated by chapters are recipes for Eggs, Bacon, Avocado, Dairy, Nuts, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Fish, Shellfish, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Brocolli, Spinach, Zucchini, and Pantry Basics. So I can look in my fridge and then easily pick a recipe for what I have on hand.
I wish every cookbook was organized by this method.
Best recipes in the book include Asian Slaw, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Curried Coconut Cauliflower, and Lemon Bars with Cashew Crust. But there a many others we love.
Great cookbook.
I'm really excited about this cookbook! The recipes are extremely simple, & that's exactly what I'm looking for right now, to stay on-track toward my low-carb goals.
I think I'm most excited about the extensive nutritional information included in each recipe, since (for me) the most daunting part of the keto diet is staying writhing the macronutrien percentages... This info will save me so much time! And since the recipes are so simple, I won't need to worry much about modifications to the ingredient list.
I love cookbooks, & usually read them cover to cover... And then maybe only use a few actual recipes... I can tell that this cookbook will be different! I bought the book because the concept the 15 ingredients + variations... But EVERYTHING looks easy & yummy!
My only question how is Almond milk a processed food no-no, but all-beef hot dogs & bacon are not? I'm not really too worried, just got a chuckle. )
The way this cookbook is organized makes it easy to plan meals, even at the last minute, as long as you have the basic ingredients, like avocado, eggs, etc.
Helpful in understanding how to start on the Keto diet and understand the "Why". The lists of good foods and not so good was helpful as were the different recipes. The author made brand recommendations which is okay, but I had to wonder if it was paid promotion. In most instances these brands were also quite a bit more expensive.
Most of the recipes in this book are awesome! I tend to add quite a bit more seasoning than she calls for, but we have found some delicious staples for our meals. The Keto Pancakes are awesome!!!
